Best bike rental - Una mas bici...un coche menos!
Comment: The best thing my husband and I did in Tulum was to rent bikes from Iguana bike shop! Hugo is the very reliable and organized owner and is passionate about bikes and biking. The bikes rent for just a few dollars a day, and we got a 10% discount for renting the entire week. (Be prepared to leave your driver's license with them.) All bikes are washed down and inspected after every outing. As we had our bikes for a week, I stopped in a couple times for small adjustments (no problem) and Hugo was generous with information about riding to nearby attractions like cenotes or the Mayan ruins. He also offers a tour of several cenotes after a ride through the jungle, but unlike so many of the other places in town, you never get the hard sell here - refreshing! Hugo also offered us a ride back to our hotel when he was bringing other clients their bikes - a service he offers for free. The strip of hotels along the beach is a little less than three miles into town on flat terrain, so it's an easy bike ride - and you can avoid the hassle (and haggle) of dealing with the taxis. And the shop is in a really convenient location, at the northernmost end of town near the road that leads to the beach. He and his wife live next door to the shop, so if the gate is closed, just knock. I am from NYC, and Iguana rivals the cleanest and most organized bike shops here. But, of course, they offer a much better deal!
