"Venture beyond the tacos!"

We stayed at Teetotum Resort for six nights recently and must say we were extremely surprised with the food. We quickly learned why the menu and food is above average for a hotel restaurant. We frequent the restaurant Continental in Philadelphia- a martini bar placed in a diner setting. It turns out the owner of Teetotum Resort, Richard, helped open Continental years ago. He brought some of the flair from the Philadelphia restaurant to Tulum and it goes along way. While staying at the hotel, we received our continental breakfast every morning, usually consisting of fresh wheat toast, homemade jam, ripe local fruit, strong Mexican coffee and fresh squeezed juice. Occasionally we ordered a few eggs on the side to change it up for breakfast and add some variety- the eggs always came out perfect and may have been the best eggs I have ever tasted. For one dinnerI tried the BLT with avocado and French fries on toasted wheat and was very impressed. A ton of flavor and good twist on the original Blt. I also tried the breakfast burrito consisting of eggs, beans, chorizo, cheese, sour cream and guacamole-delicious. We didn’t run into many burritos while in Tulum so we were happy to find this here. My girlfriend tried that burger and was impressed as well, for we didn’t run into many burgers either. After a week of Mexican food, its nice to see some American options. The service was great, the food was fresh and restaurant and kitchen are spotless. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great spot to grab a huge variety of menu options in a modern, fun setting.
